Sonny Kamberi's Biography
Sonny Kamberi came to the game of poker from chess. Sonny is a FIDE Master and a USCF Life Master with a current rank of 2304. The study and focus needed to become successful at chess translated well when he decided to take up poker.
Sonny is moving up in stakes quickly with his math oriented approach to poker. His background in chess has allowed him to be self-critical and objective about his game which has led to improved results. He loves the mathematical and analytical approach to poker and consider those the strongest aspects of his game.
When learning poker, Sonny believes that balance is the best approach. He believes that solid coaching is important for a player to improve. Not only should you find a coach, but also one that plays the games you are currently trying to improve at. In addition, he believes that you should become well versed at both live and online poker.
Sonny is now a part of the Ivey League coaching team and is excited about the new venture. His transition into a poker trainer was natural considering his training background in chess. He taught chess at the elementary school level for several years and even led several teams to the Arizona State Chess Championships. He now brings his love of training to Ivey League where he hopes to develop winning poker players.
