Tips on personal effectiveness at the table.

Hi guys and gals. I figured out, it would be a good idea to share some tips on personal effectiveness. I will start with one that came to my mind.
A lot of players want to listen to music while playing. It can be good and bad for concentration. Bad when a person focuses on the lyrics and the each song might distract him from the game. But PUTTING A SONG ON A LOOP is a good strategy to boost up your concentration. After a while brain gets used to it and rythym helps in focusing.

The list is open. If you have something valuable to say, feel free to share.

For some people listening to the music won't be helpful even if the same song is played over and over again. If, like me, you are this type of person, it's better to just DON'T LISTEN TO ANYTHING.
Focus on the game, tables, your breath, muscle tension.
This one is going to be a no brainer but still some players don't do what they should.

Stay focused. Get rid of all distractions. Turn off skype, phone. Say NO to social media.
The less things you have to focus on the easier it is to do so and the better your thought processes are.

Put the effort. Train. Become more self-disciplined player.
How is listening to a song on repeat while you play poker a good idea? I think i would go insane hahah
DaLoOnEy after a while you don't pay attention to the song any more. And as I wrote in my first post ...rythym helps in focusing.

Tim Ferriss uses this strategy when he writes books.
Does it matter what song? tempo beat etc?
DaLoOnEy I think it does but it's up to you. Try different types of music and you will find out what works for you. I wouldn't advice to listen to depressing songs, or black/death metal.

I used to listen to drum n bass, classical music, house, rap, sounds of nature, zen type of music, chillout. As you see, there's no one good answer. Try it out and find your sweet spot.
Ok COol, thanks for your reply
III. Drink water with a little bit of salt for better absorption. Even minor dehydration has negative impact on your mental performance.
IV. Eat healthy. What does that mean? No artificial, processed foods. Only fresh, natural products (vegies, fruits, HQ protein, HQ fats).

My next video will be a beginning of a new series on that subject, stay tuned.

i tried some pop, classic, edm, dnb, ambient, even some stuff for meditation... all of this distracts me :D
my recipe is Slipknot on repeat :D Slipknot is the only band that is 100% +EV for me. so imho you should try as many options as you can to see what works best for you. maybe you should avoid to listen to anything and should play in silence.

btw. did you missed tip #2?
Yeh i read tip 2, but i was just generally saying how could anybody like listening to the same song over and over for hours as suggested in tip 1.
