spadekevin commented on: anyone know of a good poker training app ??
Hello,

The group I work with in the office has started a monthly poker game get-together. My experience with card games is sporadic at best, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage. I'd like to get hold of some sort of software for doing drills and general training, ideally with a standalone PC app. I do understand that there is probably a site out there strictly for training - but there's a lot of stuff to sort through in searches, much of which is tied into some sort of online gambling, I suspect, which I want zero part of.

So - anyone know of a good poker training app that'll run under Win10, or a decent site that won't try to steer me to some other enterprise?

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

Hello,

I was a happy customer of PT4 for all of 3 weeks, until the program decided today that my registration code could no longer be verified. Brilliant.

Upon starting the application, it stalls for about 1 minute and eventually displays the message PokerTracker was not able to verify your registration. Would you like to continue in trial mode?. I tried clicking yes and then re-registering as such with the same code. At this point the application freezes my computer for a minute before saying it couldn't verify my registration again and directing me to the firewall support doc.

I have enabled all the necessary firewall exceptions and do not run antivirus software on this particular machine. So what is going on here? How do I fix it? Given the short space of time it has taken to all go horribly wrong, I will naturally require a full refund if the issue isn't fixed - if that comes to be the case, how would I go about doing that?

Please help.

Hello,

I think the game would benefit greatly from a time limit on standard ladder games, limiting turns to (for example) a 1 minute duration.

I argue that making players think on their feet and come up with moves in a limited timeframe adds to the strategy of the game and can help seperate players of different skill levels.

What do others think?

Please help.

Hello,

We have some strategy profile with probabilities for each action at each decision/node but how do we get the opponent response? Do we run the code on itself twice, one for hero and one for villain?

Because I can't continue with villain always calling because as you can imagine that gives the wrong EVs. I got to play around with Pio recently and was amazed at the results and how quickly it converged so it's something that's used everywhere but I'm just missing what it is?

Please help.

Hello,

A game of Texas hold 'em in progress. Hold 'em is a popular form of poker. Poker is a family of card games that combines gambling, strategy, and skill. All poker variants involve betting as an intrinsic part of play, and determine the winner of each hand according to the combinations of players' cards, at least some of which remain hidden until the end of the hand. Poker games vary in the number of cards dealt, the number of shared or community cards, the number of cards that remain hidden, and the betting procedures.
In most modern poker games, the first round of betting begins with one or more of the players making some form of a forced bet (the blind or ante). In standard poker, each player bets according to the rank they believe their hand is worth as compared to the other players. The action then proceeds clockwise as each player in turn must either match (or call) the maximum previous bet, or fold, losing the amount bet so far and all further involvement in the hand. A player who matches a bet may also raise (increase) the bet.

Hello,

The Ivy League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising sports teams from eight private universities in the Northeastern United States. The conference name is also commonly used to refer to those eight schools as a group beyond the sports context. The eight members are Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University. The term Ivy League has connotations of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism.
While the term was in use as early as 1933, it became official only after the formation of the NCAA Division I athletic conference in 1954. Seven of the eight schools were founded during the United States colonial period; Cornell was founded in 1865. Ivy League institutions account for seven of the nine Colonial Colleges chartered before the American Revolution; the other two are Rutgers University and the College of William & Mary.

Hello,

Poker is a popular card game that combines elements of chance and strategy. There are various styles of poker, all of which share an objective of presenting the least probable or highest-scoring hand. A poker hand is a configuration of five cards, either held entirely by a player or drawn partly from a number of shared, community cards. Players bet on their hands in a number of rounds as cards are drawn, employing various mathematical and intuitive strategies in an attempt to better opponents.
Given the game's many different forms and various dynamics, poker strategy becomes a complex subject. This article attempts to introduce only the basic strategy concepts.

Hello,

I just got a new laptop with high resolution (3000x2000) and I'm trying to get it set up with my HUD. But, even when I make the text as small as I can, it's still huge and covering too much space. I don't really want to reduce the resolution because it makes everything else cover too much screen space. Any way to fix this?

Please help.
